2nd Year Final Show

of university...It went well, I sold 3 prints at the show and I have another 2 reserved so that's 5 prints all together making a about a £40 profit minus materials and not including labour. Really happy with this I don't think I have sold anything before.. apart from that competition I won when I was 5...but I didn't sell it I only got a £5 WHSmiths gift voucher. Gift vouchers are such a cop-out for people who can't think of a prize/present to give someone. I remember that I bought something cool with it, like book or something. I think I was supposed to buy art materials with the prize money, because it was to encourage young people to paint, but I totally didn't.

Anyway ...here is my stall/space the rest of the show is on my facebook if you know me..look over there.

Also I left a comment book on the little podium for people to write down thier responses. I got some really positive feedback...and some interesting comments...whoever you are.......

Success!

I got approached by someone to publish one of my prints to their blog about traditional printing.

Frogball

I had a little counting book when I was a kid and it was all about frogs....I think it was six frogs were playing football...they looked like this, only more child cartoony but just as weird. Just a small image I did after a stint at the print room to relax.

The Fable of the Hare

I'm pretty exited about this project i've started

heres a snippet from the blog:

About the story

The Fable of the Hare is a short story I am writing. This is an ongoing personal and university project combined

Who am I?
My name's Tim. I am an illustrator in the second year of Plymouth university BA Hons Illustration course. if you want to see more of my work visit my main blog at: timdouel.blogspot.com

How is the story written?
This will be an image driven story...... I never really know what's going to come out when I draw so whatever I submit for this blog will develop the story. I'm looking forward to exploring this method because you never really know in which direction it will go or what the whole story will be. I'm planning to release a series of etching prints will be available as supplements or covers to different chapters of the story.

When will it be finished?
Not sure...when it feels done I guess
Why are you doing this?
The story came about when I was home sick and I drew a character. From this came a story inspired by the countryside where I grew up. I'm primarily an Illustrator but recently I've been interested in writing short stories so I decided to try it out.
If you have any questions feel free to email me at: timdouel@hotmail.co.uk

The full story will be available on kindle and other digital book formats soon
Stay tuned for more updates

Here is what will be a back ground for the blog and maybe one of the prints
 Stay tuned

£15 for a MoleSkine?....must be made out of real moles

These are a few pages from my current Moleskine sketchbook. more to come soon. Plus.. anyone who does digital artwork should check out DropBox a good way to back up your artwork if you have any..and sync files on different computers.
The sketch on the left is an abstract concept alien dude. Based loosely... probably off those guys in mass affect with the leaf hair. I didn't have this in mind when drawing him..it just kinda drew that way.

I drew this one on the train back home. I didn't have a reference for it, well I think maybe it was from a dream or something. The place looks like a palace probably Persian like in design. I was trying to think about how to make more dynamic environments using perspective. There looks as if there is a mountain in the background, which reminds me of the Eiger. A huge shear face mountain in Switzerland. Because of the position of this cliff its easy for people to set up telescopes and cameras to watch climbers scale the face, but also watch them fall to their deaths.

A few sketches in preparation for a western comic me and a few friends are planning to make. I don't know how its going to turn out yet so I'm just probing around with a few sketches. The one on the right is taken from a still from the film; The Good the Bad and the Ugly. And one on the left was from my head. They look like the same guy...but I drew the left one first, so...you know...I don't quite know how that happened.

StumbleUpon this...

Did some more prints of the rabbit character. These came out better due to the paper quality and soaking them before hand really made a difference. I'm going to enter it for the Bristol Artists Book Event (BABE) along with the back story.

Also ive been using StumbleUpon alot recently. A website for finding random stuff  check it out.
